My exhibition piece consists of a mixed media canvas, displaying the portraits of a man and a woman. These two people are connected in a very important way; the understanding of emotions surrounding what it is like to live \/ have lived with an illness. The piece of work I have created represents the optimistic and wonderful experiences that can happen within life, even at the hands of suffering. It is a celebration of self-expression to be proud of one\u2019s whole self, even the incorrectly formulated parts.<\/p>
I found myself intrigued by the illustrations of artist David Goodsell and felt compelled to see more of his beautiful creations depicting cellular structures. Then as I read the captions of what cell I was viewing, it dawned on me how many lives these picturesque, exquisite little cells have ruined. It helped me to understand how things of beauty can be produced from the most unexpected and unwanted circumstances, and personally I believe that should be cherished.<\/p>
