The abstraction of the human figure creates a vital position in portraying the biological factors that connect myself to my own family. It also draws on my exploration of line, shape and symbolism in representing a non physical aspect of life, in this case relationships, love, connections and disagreements within a family. The importance of the circular shapes is to highlight the organic nature of familial ties and to also involve my family members into the work by asking them to draw symbols out of circles representing us as a family.<\/p><p>Using a 3D material furthermore supported the connection as I believe tiles to be a underlaying part of the majority of homes but are not deem as significant and are often gone unnoticed. Throughout the Lineage tiles the clay has cracked, dried, warped and misshaped as it has dried, I found the \u2018malfunctions\u2019 only continued to highlight the imperfections in human relations and also body image.<\/p><p><\/p><p><strong>Additional work<\/strong><\/p><p>A mixed media piece of work I created whilst generating work throughout my Lineage project inspired me to create the circular tiles displayed.
